EMG-45HZ
The 45HZ for 6-string bass features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. Using EMG's "CS" design (Ceramic and Steel), this pickup has the punch and fullness of older passive designs along with added brightness for a better defined tone. EMG-HZ bass models feature Solid "Bar" Poles that cover the entire width of the strings so any string layout can be used. Using an Extended Series housing, it is a direct replacement with EMG's entire "Active" pickup line. All HZ Pickups have EMG's exclusive 5-wire quik-connect output allowing any number of wiring combinations, and are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.

EMG-40P
The 40P design has two offset coils that result in more low end with brilliant highs. It is intended for 6-string models that have a more narrow string spacing and uses short, squat coils that have very little resistance and plenty of inductance. Ceramic magnets are used to add clarity. The 40P has a natural presence, powerful lows, punchy midrange, and superior definition. This pickup uses a 40 Extended housing that is 4 inches (102mm).

EMG-45P

EMG-45J
The 45J model uses a single coil design which has a less powerful low end but a more prominent midrange. Featuring a very low ratio of resistance to inductance that increases the low frequency response, the EMG-45J still maintains the narrow aperture for that typical Jazz Bass tone. This pickup uses a 45 Extended housing that is 4.5 inches (115mm).

EMG-45DC
The 45DC (Dual Coil) employs parallel placed coils (ceramic loaded) to produce a deep low end, and yet maintain clarity. All of the DC Models are beefy, brilliant, and have more than enough output. The DC also uses the ultra low-noise preamp designed for the EMG- JV model. We recommend an 18 Volt supply for extended head room. This pickup uses a 45 Extended housing that is 4.5 inches (115mm).

EMG-45CS
The 45CS (Ceramic & Steel) model uses parallel placed coils like the DC but are loaded with steel. The CSís are much warmer as a result of higher inductance, have a smoother attack and a flatter high end. They are the most "Traditional" sounding of the group. 18V supply recommended. This pickup uses a 45 Extended housing that is 4.5 inches (115mm).

EMG-45TW
Inside the EMG-45TW pickup are both single and dual-coil pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is a new version of our EMG-J pickup built in the CS (ceramic and steel). The dual-coil mode is our popular CS dual-coil consisting of two coils opposite one another creating a pickup similar to model 45CS. A push/pull volume (or tone) pot allows you to change from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a dual-coil. The 45TW can be used with any of EMG's tone enhancing circuits on either pickup output. This pickup uses a 45 Extended housing that is 4.5 inches (115mm).
When using two of the TW Pickups in the same instrument it is not recommended that BT or BQ Systems be used. Each pickup requires a push/pull pot for switching from single coil to dual coil so the balance control included with the system can’t be installed.
If you want to use the balance control, consider switching single/dual coil outputs with a DPDT toggle switch(s) instead.
