The Jazzmaster® pickup was one of Seymour's favorite sounds during the '60s. He wore out many phonograph needles listening to groups like The Ventures and players like Roy Lanham who got amazing sounds from the Jazzmaster®. In combination with the floating tremolo, the Jazzmaster® pickup has a unique tone that was heard on many mid- and late-'60s recordings. Check out album covers from the great '60s instrumental bands and chances are, you'll see a Jazzmaster®.

The pole pieces are flush with the top and slightly protruding from the bottom. They are specially hand-wound and come with mounting screws. Hookup wire is the classic "push back" cloth braid wire.

Seymour Duncan saw his first Mustang guitar on a ‘60s TV show called Shindig and a guitarist by the name of Jerry Cole doing solos for many guest artists. Soon after that, he had his band members drive him to 8th Street Music in Philadelphia to buy his first Mustang. The ‘60s Mustang replica pickups feature the same look and sound of the early pickups. The Alnico V magnet’s surface looks different from the older Duo-SonicTM pickups which used untumbled Alnicos. Seymour re-created this same look. This pickup can also be used in a Stratocaster® for cool tones.
