EMG-J Set
Sweeping harmonic overtones and clarity, the EMG-J has a full bodied sound that adds new dimensions to your bass playing. Whether you play fretted or fretless bass, you'll get incredible sound yet retain that traditional tone. The original Fender Jazz Bass* pickup is a long, tall, thin pickup. That's why it has such a distinctive tone. The winding length of the coil is about 6 inches per turn resulting in a pickup that has a high DC resistance compared to its inductance. Its aperture is small for long wavelengths so there's less low frequency punch and an accentuated mid-range howl.
The EMG-J Pickups on the other hand, have a very low ratio of resistance to inductance that increases the low frequency response yet the EMG-J still maintains the narrow aperture for that typical Jazz Bass tone. Instead of the side by side Pole pieces the EMG-J uses a single-pole crescent shaped magnetic field to complement the radiused fingerboard. The result is a balanced output across the strings, and a linear attack from note to note. In addition to its standard four string capability, the EMG-J allows adaptation to use five strings.
Recommended maximum overall string width, however, is 2.75 inches (70 mm). The EMG-J comes complete with a prewired harness including dual volume controls, master tone control, output jack, battery clip and pickup adjustment screws. Also available as a separate unit is the EMG-LJ, which is the longer of the two pickups in the EMG-J Set and is usually located in the bridge position.

EMG-MJ Set
The MJ Set is for the Fender Mexican Jazz Bass*. Fender decided to use two of the same pickup sizes, rather than the short/long used on the standard Jazz Bass. The MJ is the same as our EMG-J Set but both pickups are the same dimensions.
Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect™ cables (2), prewired control set including 2 volume controls, master tone control, output jack, battery clip, and adjustment screws.
Options Available: Black, White, or Ivory cover cap.

EMG-SJHZ
The SJHZ pickup uses a stacked design with ceramic magnets and a laminated steel core for increased output and lower noise. This pickup is for the neck position in a standard 4-string bass (or a narrow 5-string bass) and acts as a direct replacement for all Fender-style instruments. All HZ Pickups have EMG's exclusive 5-wire quik-connect output allowing any number of wiring combinations, and are fully shielded for a minimum of noise. String grounding is recommended to further decrease noise.
Package Includes: Mounting screws and springs.
Options Available: ONLY AVAILABLE IN BLACK.

EMG-LJV
Available as a separate unit, the EMG-LJV is the longer of the two pickups in the EMG-JV Set and is usually located in the bridge position. This pickup still maintains the "faded" attack of the offset pole pieces in combination with our lowest noise preamp. It will appeal to the "retro" in you, while the coil and electronic design will convince you that this is a pickup to be seriously considered.
Package Includes: EMG's exclusive Quik-Connect™ cable, prewired solid shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, and adjustment screws.

EMG-JV Set
The EMG-JV was a part of EMG's 1993 renaissance visit to the "retro" vault. The JV uses a mixture of the old, new, and late model design ideas. The interface: original "offset" Alnico 5 pole pieces. The coils come from the EMG-J design, while the preamp is the newer ultra-low noise (>-100db) design adapted for bass from the EMG-SV.
The EMG-JV was developed to deliver the classic tone and look of the traditional Jazz Bass* and maintain the "faded" attack of the offset pole pieces in combination with our lowest noise preamp. The EMG-JV should appeal to the "retro" in you, while the coil and electronic design will convince you that this is a pickup to be seriously considered.
Tone modeling isn't used in the JV, the natural resonance of the coils and their mix has the typical peak of the original Fender Jazz Bass*. This could be just what you're looking for in a fretless pickup. The JV also features our Quik-Connect cable system so you can swap it with any other J model pickup we make now or develop in the future. Also available as a separate unit is the EMG-LJV, which is the longer of the two pickups in the EMG-JV Set.

Select by EMG SEJ
The SEJ model offers highs and lows available only from equalization. For fretted or fretless, the SEJ has a touch of the traditional tone but with improved clarity and power. The Select Pickup line designed by EMG has been developed to utilize the latest pickup technologies in winding, shielding, potting, and electro-magnetics.
