Gibson started to use their first adjustable bridge - imaginatively titled the ABR-1- in the late 50s. The early and most collectible versions - termed 'non-wire ABR-1s' by collectors -had no retaining wire for the bridge pieces. The retaining wire was introduced in 1962. Original ABR-1's had 'ABR-1' cast into the underside of the bridge. This was changed in 1967 so that the patent number was cast into the underside. In the early 80s Gibson changed to the Nashville style bridge and the ABR-1 was and continues to be only used on Custom Shop guitars and Les Paul Reissues.
This is a modern reproduction with 2" string spacing, 2 29/32" post spacing and M4 posts.
